Statement to clarify TRCAA's role in licensing decisions.
Good Evening
Just a quick follow up on recent emails regarding the issue of International Licenses for Tarmac Rally.
To clear up some misconceptions regarding TRCAA's role in this process, we have published the following statement on the Tarmac Rally Forum, and it's below, for those not on the forum.
"TRCAA share member frustration regarding MSA’s proposed International License requirements. The TRCAA submission was to simply add the requirement for an annual medical to the standard National Rally License.
We note the Medical is in itself quite onerous - not just the cost but the availability of medical practitioners who can do the exam.
At the end of the day, this was a decision made by MSA to simply elevate Tarmac Rally competition to an International License rather than appending the Medical requirement to a National Rally license.
TRCAA can't force them to change their policy, but we will continue to strongly advocate for a pragmatic balance of risk management, safety, and event sustainability"
